Mental Check-in

Updated: Aug 2, 2019

Hey how are you doing? No seriously, how ARE you doing. When is the last time you sat down and asked yourself that question? If you can't remember then it's been too long.

There is nothing more important than checking in with yourself regularly. You could be shocked by what you discover. Taking time to think about yourself is not selfish or egotistical, but clever and practical. When you don't stop to take stock of yourself you can find yourself bringing baggage you did not know you had to every situation you face. You need to make sure that you do not allow any negative feelings to linger and fester within you without your knowledge. The only way to be truly sure that you are coming to every situation as the purest form of yourself is to checkin with yourself.

This does not mean that people do not still come to every situation with different experiences and circumstances. The mental check-in does not wipe away whatever you bring with you to a situation. This check-in merely makes you aware of what you are bringing to the table. Then it is up to you whether you feel that this is an important part of you to keep or if this is a part of you to work through and move past.

It is extremely important to take a few minutes for yourself. Whether it be once a month, once a week, or once a day please make sure to check in with your mental state. This can be a quick few minutes before you go to bed as a reflection on the day, or as soon as you wake up to ensure a productive and successful day.

Just remember that not everyone knows where you are coming from on a daily basis. If you don't even know, how do you expect others to know?
